Saylesville walking tour

Twelve people braved the threat of rain to attend a walking tour of Saylesville in Lincoln, Rhode Island, on May 21. The tour included walks through the c. 1693 Arnold House, c. 1703 Saylesville Meeting House, and the Meeting House Cemetery, the final resting place for many members of the Arnold family.

After leading the walking tour, Historic New England's Dan Santos came across seventeen members of the Narragansett Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club in Gateway Park next to Arnold House. The group was taking a four-mile hike through Lincoln from Gateway Park through Chase Farm and Lincoln Woods SAppalachian Mountain Clubtate Park.

The hikers took an impromptu tour of the Arnold House and Dan joined the hike, sharing information about the Great Road while learning about the Appalachian Mountain Club. After hearing about Watson Farm in Jamestown, the Narragansett Chapter is considering the site for an upcoming hike.
