Preserving an important piece of Boston history

June 17, 2013

Marathon memorial

Two months after the Boston Marathon bombings, people continue to leave messages, teddy bears, running shoes, hats, and other mementos at the nearby memorial.

As archivists with the City of Boston resolve how to preserve the memorial, Historic New England is assisting with the long-term preservation of these items by donating use of its fumigation bubble to eliminate any pests from these keepsakes.
