Ogden Codman Design Group visits two historic gems in Maine
July 5, 2012
Members of the Ogden Codman Design Group enjoyed a beautiful summer day touring two historic properties in southern Maine on June 22. Starting at the c. 1785 Hamilton House, guests toured the mansion and Colonial Revival-style garden and finished the morning program with lunch overlooking the Salmon Falls River.
In the afternoon, Ogden Codman Design Group members jaunted to nearby Kittery Point to visit the 1760 Lady Pepperrell House, the privately owned Georgian mansion with preservation restrictions through Historic New England’s stewardship program. Built for Lady Mary Pepperrell a year after her husband’s death, the house is one of the best preserved examples of high-style Georgian architecture in New England today. View the photo gallery.
