Lipizzan stallions arrive at Cogswell's Grant
September 20, 2010
The Lipizzan stallions have arrived early at Cogswell's Grant in Essex, Massachusetts, and visitors may visit the stables for free and chat with the staff anytime between now and the shows on September 24, 25, and 26.
The Lipizzan stallions are a rare breed of horses, founded in the sixteenth century for the exclusive use of the Hapsburg royal family of Austria. The horses are known for dramatic leaps and plunges originally developed as aggressive battle maneuvers, and now a display of equine grace and strength. The Lipizzans provided inspiration for the Walt Disney movie Miracle of the White Stallions.
Herrmann's Royal Lipizzan Stallions will be performing three shows at Cogswell's Grant on Friday, September 24, Saturday, September 25, and Sunday, September 26. More information and advance tickets are available online, and tickets can also be purchased at the gate.
