Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum staff visit Beauport
Seven members of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum curatorial staff visited Beauport in Gloucester, Mass., recently for a private tour of the house. They were were eager to learn more about the connections between Gardner and Henry Davis Sleeper, who created and lived at Beauport until 1934. For most of the group, this was their first visit to Beauport and Eastern Point, Isabella Stewart Gardner's home away from home. Gardner was very good friends with Henry Davis Sleeper and his close circle, including economist Abram Piatt Andrew and portrait painter Cecilia Beaux, who both had homes on Eastern Point near Beauport.
