On October 5, Historic New England President and CEO Carl R. Nold accepted a Leadership in History Award at the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) conference in Salt Lake City. The award, which pays tribute to the best in state and local history, honors Historic New England’s preservation work at Beauport, Sleeper-McCann House, in Gloucester, Massachusetts.

The multi-year project was based on extensive research from documentary archives, preserved the buildings, protected artifacts both inside and outside the house, restored the landscape to a period-appropriate appearance, and now serves as a model for other house museums.
