Harvard Extension School takes Beacon Hill Walking Tour

Harvard Extension walking tour

Thirty-two students from a Boston architecture class at Harvard Extension School toured the Otis House and then enjoyed a walking tour of Beacon Hill on a muggy summer afternoon. The group focused on Charles Bulfinch's design for the Otis House and his many commissions on Beacon Hill, while learning more about Harrison Gray Otis's involvement in Beacon Hill's development. The tour covered both the elegant south slope of the hill, and the more modest north slope, where less wealthy residents built their homes starting at the turn of the nineteenth century.

Historic New England presents its Beacon Hill Walking Tour every Saturday from May through October. Tours are open to the general public.
