Finding out what's great on Great Road
July 21, 2011
260 people braved the warm temperatures and visited Arnold House on Saturday, July 16, for What's Great On Great Road. Visitors enjoyed complimentary tours of Arnold House, History Hikes from Gateway Park to Chase Farm Park, and refreshments. Historic New England partnered with eight other sites on this very successful program: the Blackstone Valley Historical Society, c. 1835 Captain Wilbur Kelly House, 1870 Hannaway Blacksmith Shop, c. 1810 Hearthside, 1909 Lincoln Woods State Park, The Lodge Restaurant, c. 1703 Saylesville Meeting House, and c. 1694 Valentine Whitman House.
Temporary tattoos with the Historic New England logo were a big hit with our youngest visitors. One young gentleman insisted that the tattoo be placed upside-down on his upper arm, so that when he looked at it, he could read it. Another young gentleman clearly wanted everyone else to know that he supported Historic New England.
