Codman Estate woodshed structural work set to begin
The carpentry crew will begin a project in July to stabilize the woodshed at the Codman Estate. The woodshed was part of the twentieth-century improvements to the property. It was designed by architect Richard A. Fisher and built in 1908.
While investigating damaged clapboards the crew found extensive moisture damage and rot to the structural elements of the building. Following the tenets of our preservation philosophy, the crew will carefully extract only the damaged wood and replace these elements with similar materials cut to the same dimensions. The repairs should overall reflect the craftsmanship of the original 1908 construction.
