Architecture Boston celebrates Walter Gropius
May 17, 2013
On May 14, Architecture Boston hosted a party at Historic New England’s Gropius House in Lincoln, Massachusetts, to celebrate the latest issue of its magazine, which is devoted to Walter Gropius and his life and work in America.
Guests included members of The Architects Collaborative (Gropius’s architecture firm in Cambridge), students of the Modern Movement, a representative from Marimekko, and family friends who remember attending parties in the house. Although this party was in a tent on the grounds, guests enjoyed a wonderful reception, had a great time sharing memories, and, during tours of the house, shared stories about Walter and Ise Gropius just a few days before what would have been his 130th birthday.
The Architecture Boston issue includes five articles and a photo gallery on Walter Gropius and Gropius House, plus an essay by Ati Gropius Johansen. Historic New England was delighted to welcome the group to the house as part of its celebration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the construction of the house.
