Historic New England is teaming up with the Newport Restoration Foundation and Preserve Rhode Island to share painting expertise with Rhode Island homeowners. The three organizations' Collaborative for Common Sense Preservation presents Paint the Old House: The History and Practical Aspects of Exterior Paint Colors on Thursday, March 29, at 5:30 p.m. at the Providence Revolving Fund. In this illustrated lecture Sally Zimmerman, manager of historic preservation services at Historic New England, helps homeowners understand the history of paint color and practices and how they affect the appearance of historic homes. Custom painting expert Dave the Painter will answer questions, provide practical tips, and demonstrate the tools of the trade. Attendees can bring photos of their houses for the presenters to analyze and advise.

Admission is $5 per person, and free for Preserve Rhode Island and Historic New England members. Contact Lisa Dady at Lisa@NewportRestoration.org or 401-324-6090.
