"Fishing lady" returns to Otis House
Completed by an unknown artist between 1750 and 1755, the "fishing lady" is an elaborate needlework picture featuring people, animals, flowers and trees, a windmill, and, of course, a well-dressed lady fishing in a small pond. The piece had been on loan to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston as part of their needlework exhibit in the new Art of the Americas wing. It recently came back to the Otis House and was re-hung in Sally's bedchamber.
