Historic New England welcomes new trustees

Boston – August 2012 - Historic New England’s Board of Trustees elected Jon-Paul Couture and David Martland as new trustees.

Jon-Paul Couture is the owner and principal architect of Couture Design Associates, Inc., a Providence-based custom home, renovation, and restoration design firm. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Providence Preservation Society and the Providence Revolving Fund and a former board member of Providence City Arts for Youth. Couture has been a project designer and manager and has been responsible for more than fifty residential projects, as well as several institutional buildings. Past and present projects show a respect for tradition while providing for today’s needs and constantly changing lifestyles. His work has been featured in Architectural Digest, The New York Times, Newport Villas, and Rhode Island Monthly.

David A. Martland is a partner and Practice Group Leader in Global Business and Transactions at Nixon, Peabody law firm. His focus is private equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, and antitrust, as well as general business law. Martland serves as Co-Chair of the Private Equity Practice Group of TerraLex, a worldwide network of 15,000 attorneys in more than 155 independent law firms located in 100 countries and 44 states. He has been recognized for exceptional standing in the legal community in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business since 2006. He has been selected by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America since 2007.
