Landscape/Maintenance Assistant, Eustis Estate
Classification: Regular/full-time (forty hours per week)
Location: Eustis Estate, Milton, Mass.
Description: Historic New England seeks a Landscape/Maintenance Assistant for the Eustis Estate in Milton, Massachusetts, who will work under the direction of the Eustis Estate Landscape Manager to perform duties required to keep the grounds and facilities clean and well maintained. The primary responsibilities are all aspects of lawn, garden, and arbor care. Secondary responsibilities include basic housekeeping and custodial tasks for the administrative offices, and the performance of minor facility maintenance activities.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and suitable job-related experience. Must be able to operate effectively in a team environment where communication within and among the teams is essential to success. Ability to interact and communicate orally and in writing is essential. Problem-solving skills and ability to effectively implement work processes to complete tasks according to schedule. Knowledge of methods and practices used in landscaping, janitorial, or custodial work. A valid driver’s license. Ability to maintain landscape equipment and experience with minor plumbing, electrical, painting, or carpentry a plus.
This position regularly requires talking, hearing, smelling, walking, bending/stooping, crawling/kneeling, carrying, reaching, pushing/pulling, and lifting. The employee is required to lift up to fifty pounds. The employee must apply manual dexterity in combination with eye-hand coordination requiring extremely high degrees of precision and accuracy in the operation of manually controlled equipment. The employee in this position is exposed to weather extremes, loud noise, chemicals (such as poisons, flammables, or corrosives), and work near moving mechanical parts. The visual demands of the position require regularly reviewing non-written material for analytical purposes (e.g., maps, blueprints, photographs, collections.)
