Policies and Procedures for Research

NOTE: At this time, the film collection is available for viewing and/or research purposes only. The films are not yet available to the public for reproduction, still shots or exhibition purposes. Thank you.

  1. Each researcher must complete a research request form (available online).

  2. At the time of the appointment, each researcher must complete a researcher registration form and provide a valid photo ID.

  3. Appointments are limited to one hour in length. Under certain circumstances, exceptions may be made at the museum staff's discretion.

  4. Researchers may view unlimited films per appointment. However, museum staff will provide no more than four DVD's to the researcher at one time.

  5. Eating, drinking and smoking are prohibited in the research room.

  6. Camcorders, cameras and laptop computers are not permitted in the research room. Photographing still images from the screen with a camera for reference purposes will be permitted only when authorized by our reference staff.

  7. Coats, backpacks, purses, parcels, etc. are not permitted in the research area. Please leave them with our reference staff.

  8. The researcher may not remove any materials from the research room.

  9. When referencing the film collection, the following citation should be used: "The Phillips House Film Collection/Historic New England"
